ACR Messina is ready to enter the futsal and women’s soccer leagues.

President Justin  Davis and vice president Morris Pagniello have already finalized a preliminary agreement with the management of Messina Futsal , newly promoted to the A2 Elite division and ready to change its name. A meeting has already been scheduled with the notary, with the Australian owners expected to acquire the majority stake and finalize the name change, with the “Acr 1900” brand officially entering the second division of national five-a-side football. The two partners had already been guests during the season at the PalaMontepiselli, the home stadium of the club chaired by  Fabrizio Caratozzolo .

Women’s football , on the other hand, will take a bit longer , although the intention is to replicate the operation carried out by Racing Catania Women , who in recent weeks, beating Giovanile Rocca, achieved promotion to Serie C. The Catania club is managed in collaboration with Enrico Strano , former director of Acireale, who was often present at the “Franco Scoglio” stadium in the last Serie D tournament. These are commendable projects, which confirm the intention to further establish themselves in the area, provided that the club is adequately structured and does not waste energy, not just financially.

The operations have been in the works for some time, and some information had already leaked from the Giallorossi entourage in mid-May, when the club’s top brass traveled to Rome to meet with the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti (National Amateur League) to address the appeal filed by Reggina, Acireale, and Sancataldese , but also to “test” the feasibility of the repechage . Investing in other areas could, in fact, give their project further weight and credibility, even in the offices of the LND. The club remains officially silent, partly because Davis is not expected to return to the city until mid-June.

The lack of definitive certainties regarding the category seems to complicate future planning and suggests caution: every decision will be carefully considered. With football matters on hold, announcements regarding futsal and women’s football have also been postponed. However, the impression is that Messina will soon be back on the scene: a press conference had already been announced during the official farewell to re-elected mayor Federico Basile . At that conference, the Australian owners will inevitably have to clarify their future, which will clearly continue to have men’s eleven-a-side football at the center of the project.
